I’ll be honest, I’m not married and I currently do not share a living space with my man. However, after 10 years of interior styling, I have taken all of the request from my male clients, beaus, and friends and created a full proof guide for a men’s nightstand!

Today’s I am sharing  how to style the nightstand for your MAN. This may seem so simple for some of you but others may have a difficult time with decorating in general. So some of these same tips can be used for any nightstand, bookshelf, end table, or any vignette you may be working on. However, by selecting a few more masculine options, your can style the perfect night stand for your guy.

START WITH THE TWO BASIC ESSENTIALS:

1. A LAMP AND BOOKS

Every nightstand needs lighting and books. When it comes to lighting, select a table lamp that will add height to your tabletop. Your lamp will most likely be your “tall” aspect of the nightstand adding height to the space. However, you want to be careful that it doesn’t take over the table. Leave room for accessorizing. If you have a smaller table, opt for a wall sconce. No need to stick with table lamps.

Now add some books. These do not actualmy have to be books you are  reading. I like to use books with a colored or printed spine. The books will almost always be stacked horizontally to create a “shelf” for another accessory, like a candle or a trinket dish.

Then add....

2. AN ORGANIC OR NATURAL ELEMENT

I am stickler when it comes to adding a greenery. Flowers are feminine, but a guy deserves some life next to his bed, too. You can add a wooden vase, a terrarium with succulents, or if you choose not to add a green element, you can simply add a conch shell or a polished agate to add a unique pop of an organic element.

4. FRAMED PRINT

I love the look of art or a frame leaning against the wall to fill up visual space. You can play with color or make it personal. I suggest sticking with white, black, or gold frames to keep it masculine.

5. MAN CANDLE

This black candle looks manly and has an equally manly scent. It is Smoke & Birchwood by M. & W.G., sold at Home Goods.

Last but not definitely not least, add

6. THE LITTLES

It is those items you can hold in the palm of your hand. They are small items, but these little trinkets truly have a powerful impact on your styling. They will transform your nightstand to feel finished. You can use small decorative spheres or even a small trinket bowl to catch your earrings and watch at the end of the day.

Tada. You have the prefect nighstand for the man in your life!

Whenever a client tells me their bedroom feels unfinished, I always ask to see their nightstands. Styling the nightstand with height, accessories, and art alters the focal wall in any bedroom. Instead of trying to recreate a hotel room bed, just add a few of the essential elements that express your personality and your space will begin to feel complete.

Hope you got some great tips on how to style your nightstand. I'll be in touch next week with my tips, trends, and interiors!!
